Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

Without a doubt taking that scary leap into the freelance realm with no safety net. I knew it was necessary in order to open my skillset to new beginnings but it certainly wasn't easy. I have also held some pretty exciting jobs in the past decade including as the editor of Australia's longest-running regional magazine, and most recently as the senior journalist for a bustling PR firm.

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

Writing, writing, and then some more writing. Crafting a wide array of content is what I do best, and it's also what I love doing. You can find me writing up a storm on any given work day (or night, depending on my schedule).

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

I live in the Gold Coast hinterland surrounding by stunning subtropical rainforest and protected National Park. From my writing nook in my treehouse, I have views of the coastline and beyond which is not only invigorating but a truly inspirational place to work.

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

My experience and my ability to truly craft relevant content for my client. I have over a decade of experience writing and during this time I have created everything from feature articles to website copy, marketing material, newsletters, media releases and everything in between. My experience working with an array of clients has also finetuned my ability to hone in on key messages and tone to create copy that speaks for my client.

What are the tools of your trade?

Just my trusty laptop, phone and close proximity to plenty of fresh food and rainforest water.

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

Of course! I love to work with others on special projects and welcome the opportunity to do so.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

The secret to fulfilling a job to the best of my ability is securing a complex brief. It is vital your writer understands your communication goals before starting on your project. Once this is done, the rest is a breeze.
