Andrea Finch

Graphic Designer + Marketing Support

// multidisciplinary // creative // maximizer // relator // I'm Andrea (hello!). I've always loved having a creative outlet. In 2010 I graduated in Graphic Design from Shillington College. I have since worked as a graphic designer in-house and for a variety of freelance clients, including web design companies, government organisations, small and medium-size businesses, marketing and promotional product companies and one of Australia’s leading project home builders with their graphic design needs. Layouts are my jam, which lead me to team up with Rhythms Magazine as their Lead Designer. Amongst all the impressive clients I work with communication is my thing. There's two keys points. Communication in my partnership with my clients AND ensuring I communicate the right message through my design and marketing. Along with my graphic design skill set, I also hold over 16 years experience in business administration under my belt, having assisted numerous directors and managers with tasks relating to sales, marketing, and corporate communication. I have also being responsible for major accounts with construction giant Boral, as I single-handedly tamed 42 of their building supervisors covering the area along the East coast of Australia, ranging from Hervey Bay, QLD to Port Macquiare, NSW. GETTING PERSONAL • Typeface nerd (font nerd) • Essential Oil Educator • Mama to two darling girls • Wife • Lover of all things creative • 1964 EH Holden owner • Hippy at heart •Happy in my own skin

Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

Working full time in a variety of corporations helped me fine tune my skill set. I then took the leap of faith and ventured out on my own and I haven’t been happier. I now have the desired work life balance back in my life with freelancing.

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

In between raising my family I typically work 20+ hours a week. I really enjoy sitting at my computer and helping my clients with their needs. Whether it be from design projects to typing up a report I'm always kept on my toes.

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

I have a home office with my 2 fur babies always curled up on the floor to keep me company. They like to let me know when the postman has been. (What is it with dogs and postman?)

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

I offer so much more than an average graphic design and print company, I also provide markering support, ongoing business support, and have a variety of packages that certainly set me apart from the pack. I'm essentially your complete package.

What are the tools of your trade?

Communication! You can't do business without communication. But like all professional designers I use Adobe Creative Suite along with Microsoft Office for administrative tasks. I also use applications such as Dropbox, Google Drive and Zoom. I also know my way around Wordpress and many CRM’s along with a wide variety of online software. Oh and social media platforms.. but that's a given for a Gen Y.

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

Most definitely. I have a long list of suppliers ready to assist on the double.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

Organisation. With the combination of raising a family and freelancing you need organisation to have a harmonious work life balance.
