Andrea Finch

Graphic Designer + Virtual Assistant

Hi, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Andrea. There are rumours afoot that you’re looking for someone highly motivated, incredibly diligent and artistically gifted. Well do I have good news for you! With over 16 years experience in business administration, having assisted numerous directors and managers with tasks relating to sales, marketing, and corporate communication. Did I mention I’m also a Graphic Designer? In response to a growing trend for businesses to be design-savvy, in 2010 I completed a Diploma in Graphic Design at Shillington College. I have since worked as a graphic designer in-house and for a variety of freelance clients, including web design companies, government organisations, small and medium-size businesses, marketing and promotional product companies and one of Australia’s leading project home builders with their graphic design needs. Based in Brisbane, Australia I offer these services ‘virtually’ on freelance basis from my own office. While the majority of my clients are based in Australia, I’m happy to support businesses all over the world (especially where the time-zone difference can work in your favour). I am organised, detail-oriented and creative, with excellent communication skills and a strong focus on customer satisfaction. I pride myself on delivering high quality work, and confidentiality, professionalism, honesty and integrity are my core business values. I look forward to supporting you in your business success.

Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

Working full time in a variety of corporations helped me fine tune my skill set. I then took the leap of faith and ventured out on my own and I haven’t been happier. I now have the desired work life balance back in my life with freelancing.

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

In between raising my family I typically work 20+ hours a week. I really enjoy sitting at my computer and helping my clients with their needs. Whether it be from design projects to typing up and report I'm always kept on my toes.

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

I have a home office with my 2 fur babies always curled up on the floor to keep me company. They like to let me know when the postman has been. (What is it with dogs and postman?)

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

I offer so much more than an average graphic design and print company, I also provide administrative services with my ever growing skill set. I'm essentially the complete package.

What are the tools of your trade?

Communication! You can't do business without communication. But like all professional designers I use Adobe Creative Suite along with Microsoft Office for administrative tasks. I also use applications such as Dropbox, Google Drive and Skype. I also know my way around Wordpress and many CRM’s along with a wide variety of online software.

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

Most definitely. I have a long list of suppliers ready to assist on the double.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

Organisation. With the combination of raising a family and freelancing you need organisation to have a harmonious work life balance.
