Angela Denly Writing and Communications Services

You know that kid who used to have their nose in a book constantly? And if there wasn't a book, read the back of the Weetbix box instead? That was me. And it turns out that reading a lot is a great foundation for taking up writing as a career. Today, I use my writing skills to help businesses cut through our noisy and information dense world to communicate with their customers. I love getting in the head of your target customers and figuring out how to best convey your message to them. As a keen researcher, I've turned my typing fingers to lots of different industries and writing styles but I'll confess to having a few favourites. I love writing fun and quirky copy for food and beverage businesses, but also have a soft spot for professional services and technology. I enjoy taking complex information and simplifying it so that your customers know exactly what you do and why they should choose you. I'm based on Sydney's beautiful northern beaches, but thanks to the wonders of technology, work with businesses right across Australia. I'd love to have a chat about how I can help your business. Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

Oh gosh, this is a tricky one. Honestly, I think it's been just the people that I've been able to work with and learn from, both colleagues and clients. I love the diversity of my work and that I'm always learning about new areas and gaining new skills.

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

Lots of juggling of deadlines, family commitments and just general life. But it always seems to work out and everything important gets done. Busy but happy is my preferred way to be.

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

I work from home on Sydney's gorgeous northern beaches with my Cavalier/beagle cross, Steve, snoring at my feet. When I need a change of scene, I break camp and head to one of my favourite cafes or the library.

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

I'm great at breaking down complex information and turning it into something clear and easy to understand.

What are the tools of your trade?

My brain, my laptop, my phone, a pen (or pencil - I love a good Pacer pencil!) and a notebook. If I've got those, I'm good to go.

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

I love working with others. I usually partner with others to either deliver bigger projects than I can do solo or to fill gaps in my skill set.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

Remember to ride the waves.
