Carlie Clark

The Creative Assistant

My first career was as a Graphic Designer, I always knew even as a child, I would do something creative with my life. Straight out of university, I worked for a marketing agency as their in house Graphic Designer. As this role grew I started to assist the directors from time to time (yes, it was a very busy role!) my skill to understand what people needed before they did started to develop. I have now worked as a Personal Assistant/Executive Assistant in Marketing and Events for the last 10 years. I now has a beautiful son, Lennox and daughter Harlow so I wanted to find a way to do what I love and be close to home. Working from home allows me to continue to work with amazing clients and businesses but also gives me that work/life balance I am looking for. My mission is to assist small businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs with their time management and focus.

Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

I was made redundant. This gave me the time and perspective to work out what I really wanted. I packed my life up in Sydney and moved to Melbourne for 2 years. Best thing I ever did!

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

Monday - Wednesday I am busy - Meetings, planning, client work. Thursday - Friday I am quieter - Spend time with my children, enjoy time in the sun when I can!

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

My working environment can be anywhere - The beach, the park, my desk at home or in the car waiting while I pick up my children.

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

My creativity. Not only am I creative in style, I am also a creative thinker. I think outside the box and find ways to solve problems no matter what.

What are the tools of your trade?

I can be very powerful with a pen and notebook (I am old school at heart), iphone and a wifi connection.

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

I do collaborate with others on larger projects. Whatever I can't do, I usually know someone who can. It is important to know you can't do EVERYTHING!
