Q & A
Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?
Discovering conversion copywriting! I love the psychology of understanding your customers' needs and motivations. I love finding powerful ways to explain to them that your service is the solution they didn't even know they needed. I love seeing the results of this: streams of leads converting into repeatable sales.
What does a typical work week look like for you?:
I'm a mum of three and a full time freelancer. So my days are full-bore concentrated work, so I can be present for my kids and family in the evening.
I love working with a diverse range of clients, from charities fighting poverty in Africa, to SAAS startups, small businesses, social enterprises, government and corporates.
Describe your working environment in a few sentences..
I work from home, in my house overlooking a national park in a leafy part of Sydney, so I work to the sound of kookaburras, lorikeets and what sounds like ginormous mutant possums running over my roof.
What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?
I specialise in service-based businesses and non-profits. I help you explain how you help.
I also specialise in both SEO and conversion copywriting, which means I can help you attract your ideal client, and then convert them to a sale (or subscription or donation or whatever your goal is).
What are the tools of your trade?
My trusty laptop and my Jorno keyboard.
Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?
I regularly collaborate with designers and web developers, as well as marketing agencies.
Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?
Planning! If I don't plan my day, it ends up far less productive. I create plans based on long-term and short-term goals.
