Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

The variety of industries that I've worked in and the broad experience it has given me!

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

It varies depending on the amount of work I've got on. Some days are a frenetic haze of coffee, phone calls with clients, reading briefs, getting ideas down on the page and reviewing/ fine-tuning completed work before handing it back to the client. Quieter days give me time to work on promoting my services and catching up on the admin side of running my freelance business.

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

A lovely, quiet space with lots of light and minimal distractions. Perfect for getting creative things done!

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

I've been lucky enough to work in many industries which has given me fairly broad marketing experience and an invaluable understanding of how different sectors operate (and how this flows on to what's required for their communications to be effective).

What are the tools of your trade?

Laptop and good wireless internet connection, coffee and awesome clients (of course!).

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

Yes. The nature of the job often requires collaboration. I think the key to successful collaboration involves open and frequent communication between all parties involved, so there is no room for ambiguity (and leaving egos at the door also helps!).

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

Getting over how daunting it can be putting yourself out there. But also that it's extremely rewarding working for yourself and completing successful projects.
