Marissa Batty

The Savvy Studio

Hey Hey, I’m Marissa! I’m your trusty Creative Communications Consultant. Social Media, Copywriting and Email Marketing is my JAM.

My mission is to set your socials on fire, craft compelling copy and create engaging email marketing campaigns for your business. I hail from a marketing background and love words more than Kanye loves Kanye.

In a previous life, I was a Fundraising Campaign Coordinator for one of Australia’s leading charities. Working for a cause I believed in with every fibre of my being was so rewarding. Previous to this, I worked in marketing for a variety of industries from Insurance to Finance.

I’m passionate about business and I make it my business to get to know yours. From researching your ideal demographic and serving up content that converts, to analysing your competitors and ensuring each and every piece I create is perfectly on brand, I pride myself being thorough.

So what led me to launching Savvy?

After having my son Oliver, I realised the 9-5 gig just wasn’t sustainable. I knew my career was not something I wanted to give up but the reality of having that career outside the home meant I hardly saw my son on the days I was working.

I’m a feminist and I believe women SHOULD have choices and the ability to do BOTH. Unfortunately society hasn’t quite caught up. SO – I decided to create a role that let me do BOTH. I work with wonderful clients and utilise ALL my skills WHILE being available to my children if they need me. It’s the best of both worlds and I LOVE IT. #whoruntheworld #girls!

Fast Facts -Creativity is at the heart of everything I do, from words, socials and even business strategy. -I work with a range of industries both service and product based. -My husband Adam and my children Oliver & Mila are hands down, the raddest people I know. -I don’t function without coffee…no joke. -RnB is life and I fancy myself as quite a dope dancer…when no body’s watching. -I suit the solo-preneur life to a T – extroverted introvert anyone? We’re a rare breed! -My job doesn’t really feel like a job because I LOVE IT.

Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

Definitely being brave and launching my own business, The Savvy Studio. I love what I do, I get a real kick out of helping small business owners reach their goals.

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

My work day begins at 7.30am, I complete a pulse check for each client – this may be reading social media insights, Google Analytics or even gauging overnight sales success and then I head off to the gym to get my groove on (I love dancing!). The rest of the day is spent project managing, managing multiple social media accounts, crafting engaging email campaigns, writing killer copy and repeat!

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

I live in Melbourne and work from my home office. I am surrounded by beautiful candles, books and inspirational quotes to keep me focused and motivated. I also have a coffee machine approximately five steps away which helps when I have multiple deadlines!

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

I work with business owners who aren’t afraid to stand out. I totally jam with a range of industries and currently work with an array of ecommerce stores, business coaches, marketing agencies, entrepreneurs, not for profits and more. I take the time to analyse your ideal demographic and serve up content that gets your community all fired up, ready to work with you and purchase your ah-mazing products. More than that, I create brand consistency. Your brand is your currency and should be treated with a little TLC. I make it my business to immerse myself in your brand ethos and WILL produce on-point work each and every time. If you’re feeling my vibe, I’d love to work with you.

What are the tools of your trade?

Google Docs, Canva, Hootsuite, My Mac, creative energy and a dash of caffeine.

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

Yes I work with graphic designers and website developers to ensure each element of your project is TOP NOTCH.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?
