Philip Adams

It all began in the uterus… No wait, let me start again. Growing up in school, I realised I had a knack at words and, for a while, I wanted to be a journalist. I wrote articles for my local newspaper, the Watford Observer, and read hundreds of magazines about technology and video games. However, I couldn’t stand school; something about sitting in a sweaty exam hall for an hour and a half just didn’t seem right. I learnt from practice and experience. So after my A-levels, I joined Dragon’s Den Peters Jones Academy for Business where we were taught to be self-motivated and achieve our entrepreneurial dreams. After that, I entered the world of public relations with Cirkle Communications, where I realised I wanted to be on the other side of the coin. Enter Highways Industry, an online magazine start-up dedicated to the business of roads and construction. I was only hired to develop social media platforms, populate the website and generate sales until one day the editor assigned me a task that would change my destiny forever… I would have to attend a press day for our local county council on the topic of gritting. Ok, bear with me here. My childhood dream had landed on my doorstep and, of course, I put my heart and soul into creating the best 1000 word feature about, well, gritting! The rest, as they say, is history.
