Rebecca Minervini

Creativity has always been in my blood. Growing up I was continually drawing and creating with purpose so it is no surprise that I developed a passion for design which then led to a career where I could continue to create and, through this, help people communicate their businesses and brands.

Branding is my strength. I love to create business identities and then roll these identities out to all applications. It is what I do best. I love to listen to my clients’ stories and create ideas that are a true representation of this. Having my own brand too (a jewellery label) I truly understand selling a product or service and the many facets of this from a business perspective.

From the initial logo, right through to the digital marketing and social media strategy, I enjoy creating a cohesive look and visual story so that all aspects of the business align and represent what they do in the best possible way.

Whether fashion, lifestyle, corporate or something in between it is my passion to help businesses to stand out amongst the crowd.

Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

Moving interstate to open up my creative opportunities has been great for my career and has led me to many creative and inspiring people and experiences which are invaluable. Starting my own brand as a side hustle has also been a challenging but rewarding venture and has helped me as a designer by putting me in the situation of many of my clients needing help with their start-ups or rebranding. Having a working brand myself really enables me to have a clear idea of what areas clients need assistance in. It also helps me in understanding and developing strategies behind what I do when designing to then use in all facets of the business. I feel this is far more valuable than just creating design that appears pretty but may lack substance, purpose or impact.

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

Typically I work usual business hours 9-5 but if required I will work outside of those hours to meet my own needs and the needs of my clients. I do believe in balance though so I always make one day a week about rest, recharge and relaxation. I stay active with running or barre.

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

My work environment is fun, creative (of course) and I love to bounce of other people so I seldom work isolated and there definitely has to be music.

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

As I mentioned before, having my own side business/brand beyond being just a graphic designer helps to give me another perspective in what I do and how I can help my clients on a real and strategic level. I feel my branding and design go beyond just surface appeal but really tells a story.

What are the tools of your trade?

Sketch book, pencil, Macbook Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, coffee and music!

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

Yes, I love to collaborate with others whether it be my clients themselves or other designers and creatives. Design is a subjective thing so I think it's important to implement different perspectives to ensure the best possible outcome is reached.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

To always have open communication with your clients and to not undervalue yourself. I think it's easy to get swept up in all the businesses out there offering cheap design and think you need to sell yourself short in order to compete, but, at the end of the day, design with depth that will stand the test of time speaks for itself and I believe that relationships where that is appreciated are the best ones to have.
