Renee Shea

Renee Shea Photography

I am a photographer and I work with business owners, bloggers and brands who want to be more visible in the online world. I help my clients to understand their strengths and the power of their personal brand. I create a folio of portraits that represent who they are and what they stand for, so they can show that to the world. On a personal note I am an extrovert. I love people. I enjoy digging deep and finding what makes people tick, to talk about their dreams. To understand their vision and who they are. I am also a ‘do-er’. If you are a day-dreamer that has no plans, we won’t get along. If you have a big dreams, a clear vision, ambition and getting things done is important - then we’ll get on fine.

Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

I have the opportunity to work with some amazing women who have shown me that if you approach your business in your own way and be yourself, you can do amazing things.

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

My typical week is not typical. I spend time at a desk editing images, drafting brand blueprints or writing content (social media and blog posts and emails - all the things). I could be driving around town looking for awesome locations that work for my clients and their brand. Or (and my fave bit) actually chatting with, or shooting client sessions.

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

A bit hectic, full of colour and generally with some Spotify playlist pumping.

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

My sparkling personality of course? Kidding, but not really. There are loads of photographers in the market, but not all of them can talk the language of social media marketing, colour psychology and how to leverage your personal brand (aka who YOU are) for the best outcome.

What are the tools of your trade?

My camera. Adobe photoshot and lightroom Coffee

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

I love to collaborate with others - it's the 'extrovert' in me. Most recently I worked with a graphic design mentor who wanted to run a series of sessions for her client. For QLD Small business week I co-facilitated a workshop with a copy writer to help participants nail their brand images and copy on social media.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

Clearly defined expectations and spot-on communication.
