I am an experienced Journalist, Copywriter and Public Relations expert. I have experience executing production and comms campaigns for global brands. I am passionate, creative and hold the belief that anything is possible if you are determined and collaborative. During my career, I have gained experience and honed a wide range of transferable skills by working across a number of challenging roles for industry leaders, global organisations and agencies. I have recently been in the US working as a Publicist and Senior Producer/Director and reporting for the Today Show. Before that, I operated my own media agency Mead Media, where I executed production and comms campaigns for brands like China Tourism, The Commonwealth Games, Royal Brunei Airlines and Success Resources. During my career I have consulted brands and leaders in business, communication and advertising. I have also worked across various international TV shows, commercials and film projects. Reporting for and producing shows on Network Ten, Foxtel and Channel Nine and across major Chinese and Russian TV networks. I have also directed the likes of Jason Momoa in film and commercial projects. I am certified in journalism specialising in PR and IR and certified in psychology from CQU and Berkeley. I am also an ambassador for headspace and Youngcare and spent a year as the Chairperson of headspace Adelaide where I led a team of industry heads on mental health projects. I enjoy creative problem solving and work well under pressure.

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

Travelling around the world producing content and doing publicity for the likes of The Commonwealth Games, Penfolds, Tourism bodies and global brands.

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

I like to blend a healthy lifestyle into my career and am all about promoting wellbeing and enjoyment in your work. I like to keep fit and healthy, doing boxing and yoga. A work week for me, includes getting to the office early, grabbing a coffee and nice hipster breakfast (clićhe freelance life) before going through my passion planner, setting out goals and tasks for the week. I work with a small team and coordinate our efforts while managing my time so that I can put enough focus into the jobs that need to be done. One day I could be at the desk writing articles and taking calls, the next day I could be on location creating a new show or series, it all depends.

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

We have a really cool creative office space in the heart of the city. Great food, great coffee and a super positive and motivated team.

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

I am driven, creative though practical and I am able to draw on a wealth of experience from a range of roles to excel in my work. I take pride in creating forward thinking campaigns while nailing the basics.

What are the tools of your trade?

My MacBook Pro is everything in my work - from writing to creating campaigns, its all done from there. I am also regularly meeting at cafes and on the phone and sometimes get behind the camera for some filming (when I am not directing!).

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

I think collaboration is the key to success. The ability to draw in driven, passionate people onto a clear goal is something I truly love. The art of collaboration is all about working together towards a collective goal which is mutually beneficial and impactful. I have found great success in collaboration and thrive both individually and in a team.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

The key is to enjoy the process and enjoy the collaborative approach to working with different agencies and clients. I love to be able to fit in with a companies values and cultures and impart knowledge while also learning from their unique perspective.
