Tiffany Gouge

Studio: Tiffany Gouge

Hi! I'm Tiffany.

The creative brains behind my graphic design lab that is Studio: Tiffany Gouge. I am no ordinary graphic designer as I deliver out of the ordinary design but more than that, I create identities. Branding is key to the success of any business and not least visual branding, which plays a crucial part in your overall brand. Based in Orange NSW Australia, I have spent almost a decade immersed in print and publications, SME branding and design with projects including logos, packaging, brochures and more to over 300 brands across Australia and further afield. Your brand is my passion.

I started my design career in 2010, working for a printer while completing my Diploma of Graphic Design on the Gold Coast, where I worked learning the print and pre-press trade for 2 years. After this, I managed to get a casual job, 1 day a week freelancing for a local magazine and publication designer. I got to work on publications such as PGA Magazine, Bluewater and Rotary. Here my freelance career was born, as well as my deep love for publication design!!! I moved to Orange in 2012, in which I worked for another local printer, where I wore multiple hats – Digital printer, graphic designer, embroider, DTG T-shirt Printer, customer service… you name it, I did it! Working with so many applications has given me a broad knowledge of different printing processes and how to design for such processes – cementing my expertise and love as a print designer. When I gave birth to my first child in 2013, I decided to do away with my 9-5 job and freelance full time and I have not looked back! To date, I have clients all over Australia and have worked for on projects such as the 18 month promotional Magazine for BreastScreen NSW (6 Issues) as well as developing the branding guidelines for The Liberal Democratic Party Australia. I love designing brands and I would love the opportunity to work with you on your brand!

Q & A

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

In 2017, I signed my first international client - all the way from Dublin!

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

Mondays are business development days! Tuesday to Friday i am at the helm, designing up a storm for my clients.

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

I work from my office at home (Living the dream!), with a cup of tea and some tunes. If I want to mix it up - I will go and sit in a park or my favourite cafe for a few hours on a nice day.

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

Before going out on my own, I spent years working and learning from industry professionals in the print and publication industry. Many graphic designers these days walk out of their degree and into working for themselves, without getting industry experience first. My working industry knowledge and experience is what sets me apart from the rest!

What are the tools of your trade?

I currently have a HP computer, running 2 x Acer screens, Wacom Intuos4 Tablet and Adobe CC. Indesign and Illustrator being my strengths.

Do you collaborate with others? If yes, how does that works?

Yes, all the time! I have a close 'Team' of other businesses i work with on major projects. I also do a lot of sub-contracting to other businesses.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

Don't be afraid to say no.
