I'm at my best when I'm collaborating with good people and brave brands. It's my job to support you and ensure your marketing activities deliver true consumer value (building loyalty and brand awareness) and being able to positively impact your bottom line.

I defined and grew my own agencies service offering from traditional PR, to a specialist data-led brand, marketing & communications agency, and after 9 successful years I sold the business and am now available as a specialist contractor.

This means I understand the start-up / small business world from a first hand experience and am very comfortable working directly with a business or within an agency environment. Additionally, as I've been a highly experienced Brand & Communications Specialist for twenty years, I've also creating market leading integrated PR and communications strategies for some of the world’s leading brands.

A big believer in Design Thinking (the approach to gathering human-centered insights that fuel innovation and solve business and consumer problems), I enjoy nothing more than helping brands &/or agency teams discover its power in their day-to-day work. But it’s not all about creativity. I also understand the importance of accountability, and building a strategy based off strong data-driven insights and being able to provide real results and measurements.

Whats the best thing to happen to you in your career to date?

Best thing? Being given a lot of trust from various people - you can do anything with that level of support. Clients, staff members, suppliers, talent etc - it always surprises me and I'm always grateful. Additionally I can't go past managing a talent tour in Baghdad, Iraq.

What does a typical work week look like for you?:

I'm available at all times because, well, I get it. So I'm extremely organised and focus on a high level of communication. I travel between my home office and my clients office depending on how they like to work.

Describe your working environment in a few sentences..

I'm pretty adaptable - put it this way, I've got heels, converse and flats in my bag so I'm adaptable to a bunch of working environments & expectations.

What sets you apart from other freelancers in your industry?

I’m unapologetically obsessed with gathering human-centered insights and educating brands as to how this fuels innovation and helps solve both business and consumer problems. True business & consumer value.

What are the tools of your trade?

#1 without a doubt is listening followed closely by #2 curiosity / questioning. Asking the right questions is vital. Finally having the confidence not to assume anything. Don't assume anything about the client relation, the brief, the allocated staff, the audience etc

Sure, I work best when I collaborate. I can be a team member or a run a project - it's depends on the requirements.

Whats been the biggest freelancing lesson to date?

It's what I've leaned from hiring freelancers actually. I enjoyed being around the people that come in with a positive, flexible, open vibe, someone that's keen to do whatever needs doing. I aim to contribute to a space the same way, always. Oh and I only work with good people, life's too short.
